If you’re in the market for new towels, bedding, baby items etc. and, you know organic is the way to go, you just don’t know which is best for you, organic cotton or bamboo.. please read further.
Organic cotton is generally understood as cotton and is grown in subtropical countries such as America and India, from non-genetically modified plants that are to be grown without the use of any synthetic agricultural chemicals such as fertilizers or pesticides. Farmers who produce Organic cotton use methods such as composting, frequent crop rotations, and machinery that does the weeding. These methods help reduce the environmental impact of organic cotton crops. Besides helping the environment, there are other benefits from organic cottonproducts. Working environments are better for those on farms and small-scale farmers save money by not having to buy large amount of pesticides. It uses eco-friendly processing that does not compromise workers’ health and helps reduce water and electric use and toxic runoff, e.g. non-chlorine bleach, silicon-free softeners and low impact, azo-free dyes. Benefits of Organic cotton:

- Less Allergen: Organic cotton can help reduce exposure to allergens and other irritants. People with allergies and chemical sensitivity especially benefit from organic cotton clothing, as conventional cotton may retain harmful toxic residues. Even if you don’t have sensitive skin, organic cotton will just feel better against your skin.
- Reduced Carbon Footprints: Manual farming and organic practices have a lower carbon footprint as the entire process consumes less fuel and energy and emits fewer greenhouse gases compared to chemical textiles.
Organic Bamboo is an eco-fabric based on its anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-static, de-odorizing, breathable, thermal regulating (cool in hot weather and warm in cool weather), and environmentally friendly.- If you want bedding sheets and linens even softer than silk and cashmere, then try bamboo linens for yourself and feel the difference. One you go bamboo linens, you won’t go back.
- Bamboo linens can absorb tremendous amount of water or liquid and feels dry to the touch and gives you an incredibly comfortable night’s sleep.
- Most other fabric types on the market, cotton or plastic, mention their ability to be breathable. The fact is that the breathability of bamboo fabric are much more breathable than even cotton.
- The temperature regulating properties of bamboo fabric is even better than wool and even substantially better than cotton or other synthetic fabrics. The wicking properties of bamboo linens reduce the possibility of rash and other bacteria problems causing skin irritation and skin discomfort.

- While bamboo and wool both have anti-bacterial properties that naturally resist order, bamboo by far has greater anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties which keeps the bamboo linens fresher for longer and odorless.
- Bamboo linens are very easy to care for, easy to wash, tumble dry, and store for future use while still keeping its properties wash after wash. It will remain water resistant, order-resistant, bacteria-resistant, and silk-like soft.

I think its better to opt for organic bamboo. Not only this helps to control the temperature but its very comfortable also.
